Sheri Wright ICD.D
Sheri Wright is “working in retirement” as the chief strategy officer for Special Forces Pension Plan (SFPP) in Alberta. Her portfolio includes strategic planning, business planning, communications, stakeholder relations and government relations. SFPP Corporation manages a $4.2 billion defined benefit pension plan for municipal police in Alberta and is proud to provide these public safety offers with a strong, secure pension in retirement. Prior to this, Wright spent 12 years as vice president of stakeholder relations and communications at LAPP Corporation. She is a founding director of the Canadian Public Sector Pension Leadership Council, retiring in December 2022, after ten years on the Board. She sits on the Board of Directors for the AIMCo Foundation for Financial Education and served eight years as the board chair for the Supplemental Integrated Pension Plan of the Alberta School Board’s Association (ASBA). Wright is a curriculum developer and instructor for the International Foundation in its Master of Trust Management Standards (MTMS) program. Prior to joining the pension industry in 2010, she served as executive director, corporate communications for Alberta Health Services and director of communications for Palliser Health Region. Before working half her career in the public sector, Wright spent many years in the private sector, working as a print journalist. She held the position of assistant managing editor of the Medicine Hat News before moving into a career in communications. Wright served eight years as an elected school trustee in St. Albert, retiring from her board position prior to the October 2021 election. She holds a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Victoria and completed two years of graduate studies in political science at the University of British Columbia. She has a Pension Plan Administration Certificate and an Advance Trust Management Standards (ATMS™) Certificate of Achievement. Wright is a graduate of the Rotman School of Management’s Directors Education Program (DEP) and holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
